The Barberettes had the immense pleasure of entertaining members of the Purley-on-Thames WI with some of our favourite Christmas repertoire on Wednesday 11th December. The audience enjoyed participating and jingling some bells to ‘Jingle Bells’, ‘What Shall we Do With A Drunken Santa’ and ‘White Christmas’. They also outshone Whiteknights in their depiction of ‘9 ladies dancing’ and ‘7 swans are swimming’ during the chorus’ rendition of ‘The 12 days of Christmas’.
They were also entertained by the lovely AlphaWaves quartet who sang Jessie J’s ‘Man With The Bag’ but all four members of Cantare Lunedi were also there and sang their version of Shakin’ Steven’s ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’.
The whole evening went off well and was well received by the audience with the organisers later commenting: ‘What a fabulous evening you and your fellow Barberettes gave us last night . A huge huge thank you from us all at PoT WI. We have been overwhelmed by comments from our ladies - saying what a lovely evening it was. You were amazing, a lovely mix of songs and you all showed us how much you enjoy your singing. That certainly came across. Being in the Barn added a special aura to it all.’
Looking forward to our penultimate Christmas singout at Saville Gardens on Saturday 21st December.
