Wonderful singout with Reading Male Voice Choir
By Alison Kinch, Lead
Another weekend, another joint concert, this time with Reading Male Voice Choir. The Barberettes had a fabulous evening of singing, having been asked to share the concert with 60-odd chaps who make up RMVC. An offer we couldn’t turn down!
Following some beautiful singing in a variety of styles from the men, the Barberettes pulled out some of our old favourites such as Skyfall which was a joy to sing in St Nicholas’ church, and our tribute to the Motown era, complete of course with some advanced dance moves such as swaying and shoulder shrugs. To complete our two sets were some recent additions to our repertoire such as Crazy Little Thing Called Love which, from the raucous back row where I stand, seemed to be full of energy and went down well with the audience.
The men certainly held their own with some swaying themselves and we appreciated their dance moves in their version of Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines.
With plenty of “girls vs boys” banter throughout the evening, I think it’s safe to say that the ladies won out and put the men in their place with a rousing rendition of “It’s Raining Men” to finish off a great evening.
See you soon chaps, for round 2.
