On Friday 26th October some of us from The Barberettes went to Showcase Cinema in Winnersh, Reading to see the Queen movie ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. Hot drinks, cold drinks and popcorn at the ready we took to our seats ready for the film. It was great learning more about the group Queen, how they interacted with each other and produced some of the greatest songs ever written.
Watching the film there were times we laughed, sang along to the songs (Ok maybe that was just Jo and myself!) and even had the occasional tear in our eyes. Some of the chorus were only just born when the original Live Aid took place on 13th July 1985, whilst some of us ‘oldies’ remember it really well and grew up listening to Queen’s music and their anthems ‘ We will rock you’, ‘we are the Champions’ and of course ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. In the film Queen said they were a ‘family’, this just reminded me why I love being part of the Barberettes, they are like my extended family and the power of music brings us all together. What a fantastic film, I definitely recommend it.
