Joys of singing with the Barberettes

I have always loved singing often happily humming away wherever I am, much to the amusement of people in the street.
I joined the Barberettes in April 2015 when my husband went into care and I wanted something positive to do – a new adventure that, at age 63 when I joined, was all mine. He sadly died that August and I cannot say how much this lovely bunch of ladies helped me by just becoming such cheerful and understanding friends.
It’s wonderfully uplifting to stand and sing alongside them on Wednesday evenings (our chorus practice night). It’s not just the singing (although that’s awesome) but also the laughter and immense fun. Music is a universal language and singing and laughing with friends lift the spirit in a way that no medicine or therapy can achieve. It’s a mood booster, a powerful stress relief and an antidote to grief.
Singing with the Barberettes lifts my soul.
